University students protest the new Addis Abeba Master Plan

(ESAT News) Several university students in Ambo, Jimma, Nekemt and others are protesting the new Addis Abeba City Master Plan, which the City believes will reduce the City’s land shortage problems.

Students in Wellega University have been injured due to actions taken by securities.
Gebru Gebremariam, former MP and current Deputy Chairman of the Oromo Federalist Congress said to ESAT that although it was so not clear whether the protests were organised or not, there are ongoing protests.

Gebru said that it was necessary to give proper response to the questions of the people rather than raising issues and claiming that my way is the only way. He also warned that care should be taken so that the problems do not lead to ethnic conflict.
